January 9: The Tipping Point
Principle #5: The Tipping Point or 'Little Changes Can Have Big Effects'
Welcome to Day 9 of Kick Start 2007!
The main theme of Malcolm Gladwell's popular book, The Tipping Point, is relevant to our Kick Start intentions in two essential ways:
1) We need to understand that making small changes in our everyday actions can have massive impact on our long-term results.
and
2) As Gladwell demonstrates with practical evidence - when small numbers of people start behaving differently, that behavior can ripple outward until a critical mass or "tipping point" is reached, changing the world.
So, we're talking here about the extraordinary power that you have to change your life AND to positively impact the world around you.
Little things mean a lot. A single empowering action that you take on a regular basis can be the 'tipping point' that propels you toward maximum success.
And, typically, we know intuitively just what those 'tipping points' are.
Inspired Action:
Consider one of the main areas that you want to shift and ask yourself:
'What is the single, most significant action that I can take today toward this goal which will lead to such a cascade effect?'
In all likelihood you'll come up with one clear answer.
And then you need to follow through and commit to doing that one certain thing.
Are you ready to make - and stand behind - a crucial commitment to yourself? If so, allow us to be your witnesses and champions by posting below under 'comments'.
Special Kick Start Recommendation:

For today, the ninth day of 2007, I wish you the excitement and sense of hopeful optimism that I get when I read Malcolm Gladwell's words on creating a 'positive epidemic':
'What must underlie successful epidemics, in the end, is a bedrock belief that change is possible, that people can radically transform their behavior or beliefs in the face of the right kind of impetus. Tipping Points are a reaffirmation of the potential for change and the power of intelligent action. Look at the world around you. It may seem like an immovable, implacable place. It is not. With the slightest push; just in the right place; it can be tipped.'
Best to you!
Elyse

I BELEIVE
Posted by: rosemary | January 09, 2007 at 09:33 AM
I am going to be concious of everything that comes out of my mouth.
To be responsible for speaking my truth.
To be responsible for taking a moment to think before I say anything.
To act rather than react. To be fully aware of the connection between what I say and what happens to me.

I will complete the work on the X-Plus book and post it online on January 20, 2007.

I am aware that as much as I work at it, negativity slips from my lips especially when I am in a group. I commit to working harder to be positive even when amongst a group of naysayers.
I also commit to talk to at least 3 people each day about the wonderful products I have to offer.

I will change my eating habits and the way I act around food in order to loose weight. I will follow Paul McKennas 4 steps:
1. Eat when you are hungry
2. Eat what you want
3. Eat conciously (put down knife and fork, chew 20 times, taste, focus and totally enjoy what you are eating)
4. Stop eating when you are full.
In addition: visualisation of result (and some energy work in order to help with emotional hunger...)
This will help me gain back trust that my body knows what I need, and when I have had enough of it... And if that goes for food, then the same will be true in other areas of my life!! I will do it easily, proving to myself and my surroundings that achieving my goals is easy, uplifting, fun and a matter of focusing my attention on the POSITIVE that I want!
I look forward to every step of the way!

When I wrote my overview looking back on 2007, one of the first things I mentioned was losing the last 20 lbs. of my weight loss and enjoying the rest of my year in complete physical freedom. In 2006 I lost 40 lbs and feel marvelous! I showed a 3 lb. gain from the Holidays, so for me, losing this last 20 lbs. shapes my success story in 2007. Over the past 2 days I've managed to give up sugar once again, appreciating the enjoyment I had tasting the Holiday treats, but enjoying my slender self better than anything can taste. So here I go, the first success story of my year.....health and physical freedom!

The single most important thing that jumped out at me to do is BELIEVE. I need to trust that the Universe is going to take care of my family and me. I need to leave worry behind, knowing that everything always works out - because it does; I've had proof of that over and over. Checks have shown up in the mail when I've BELIEVED.

Clear my clutter! It will release such an amount of energy in me to deal with other important issues in my life. I feel embarrassed by my clutter. What an energy drainer. I reclaim my energy by clearing my clutter! Yes! So be it! :o)
